City of Fredericksburg - Home Performance with Energy Star (GW-HELP)

Summary

The GW-HELP program helps residents of City of Fredericksburg and surrounding counties analyze home energy use, detect energy loss and recommend energy conservation measures to make qualifying homes more energy-efficient. The program offers a free home energy check-up & rebates for energy-saving retrofits to enable homeowners to afford energy-saving home improvements.

Households in Caroline Co and City of Fredericksburg with total household incomes from 50% - 120% of 2011-2012 Area Median Income (AMI) are eligible for rebates and low-interest loans (once loan program is established). Higher income households (over 120% of AMI) in Fredericksburg and Caroline, Stafford and Spotsylvania Counties eligible for limited rebate (up to $500). Area Median Income (AMI) is annual computed for each metro area by the US Dept of Housing and Urban Development.

REBATE BENEFITS (City residents)

  • Up to $2,350 for 4-person households with incomes between $53,050 and $79,575
  • Up to $3,850 for 4-person household with incomes between $79,575 and 106,099
  • Up to $5,850 for 4-person households with incomes between $106,100 and $127,320
  • Up to $500 for 4-person households with incomes over $127,320*

            *also applies to similar households in Spotsylvania and Stafford Counties.

REBATE BENEFITS (Caroline County residents)

  • Up to $2,350 for 4-person households with incomes between $37,300and $55,599
  • Up to $3,850 for 4-person household with incomes between $55,600,and $73,899
  • Up to $5,850 for 4-person households with incomes between $73,900 and $88,680
  • Up to $500 for 4-person households with incomes over $88,680
