U.S. Virgin Islands - Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy Rebate Program

December 01, 2011

Summary

NOTE: As of December 1, 2011, this program is no longer accepting rebate applications. It is closed for the remainder of 2011. This program is not scheduled for renewal in 2012. This information is for reference only.

The Virgin Islands Energy Office's renewable energy rebate program provides incentives for Virgin Islands residents and businesses to install solar technologies and wind turbine generators (the energy efficiency portion of these rebates has expired). The current funding cycle (starting in October 1, 2009) is supplemented with funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. There were two sub-programs. The first, called "RENEWABLE & ENERGY STAR" is planned from October 1, 2009 to April 30, 2012. The second is the "RENEWABLES" program (for electric systems) and it is planned from October 1, 2009 to September 30, 2010. Through September 2010, 121 applications have been processed for wind and solar rebates. To be eligible for these rebates, the equipment must be purchased from one of the approved vendors listed in the program details. Only Virgin Island residents are eligible.

Original receipts are required within 30 days of purchase and all equipment purchased must be operational within the year of purchase. Contact the energy office to verify availability before making purchasing decisions.
