CenterPoint Energy Low-Rise Multi Family Program

Note: This Incentive is only available to customers in the CenterPoint Energy Houston electric territory.

CenterPoint Energy is required by the Texas Public Utility Commission to achieve an annual energy efficiency program goal equal to 30 percent of its projected growth in demand by implementing “standard offer” and “market transformation” programs. The ENERGY STAR® Low-Rise Multifamily Program promotes the construction and certification of new ENERGY STAR qualified and energy-efficient, low-rise multifamily complexes in the CenterPoint Energy Houston electric territory. The program offers financial incentives and other types of assistance to developers committing to construct qualifying multifamily complexes.Incentives will be offered to developers and HERS raters for each multifamily unit that meets program guidelines. The Program is currently offering incentives for market rate and affordable housing units (affordable housing units do not have to be ENERGY STAR certified; see incentive structure below).

The goal of the program is to create a sustainable multifamily market that leads to:
• An increase in supply of ENERGY STAR qualified and energy-efficient multifamily units
• Increased consumer demand and perceived value of ENERGY STAR qualified and energy-
efficient low-rise multifamily units
• Increased improvements in ENERGY STAR qualified and energy-efficient low-rise
multifamily unit performance
