Progress Energy Carolinas - Pilot Solar Water Heating Rebate Program

September 27, 2011

Summary

This program has recieved over 150 applicants. Progress Energy will continue to accept applications until the projects have been completed.
Progress Energy is providing rebates for residential solar water heating systems through their solar water heating pilot program. Residential customers in North Carolina and South Carolina are eligible for a rebate of $1,000. A total of 150 rebates will be awarded as part of this pilot program. While any customer with an electric water heater and good credit may apply for the rebate, Progress Energy Pilot program is required to select rebate recipients that will provide a representative geographic and demographic sample of Progress Energy's entire service area. Participants will be asked to fill out surveys and questionnaires over the course of the approximately 18-month study period. Solar water heaters may also be monitored at the utility's expense. Progress Energy plans to use the pilot program to gather data and aid in the development of a possible full-scale incentive program in the future.
