PPL Electric Utilities - Home Assessment Program

June 23, 2011

Summary

The PPL Electric Utilities Residential Home Assessment Rebate Program rewards eligible residents for contracting a home energy audit. Two energy assessment options are provided at reduced prices allowing customers to identify and implement ways to reduce their home energy use. For both assessment options, trained energy surveyors or analysts will install several free energy-saving measures (such as CFLs, smart power strips, faucet aerators and water heater pipe insulation) and provide the customer with additional recommendations to make their home more energy efficient. Participants can also receive wall insulation, ceiling insulation, weatherization and duct sealing rebates. For each additional recommended measure that is installed, the customer receives an additional $50 rebate up to a maximum of $150 if all four recommendations are installed. The cost to the customer for an energy surveyor to conduct a walk-through evaluation and install energy-saving measures is $50.

A comprehensive diagnostic audit performed by a Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certified Building Analyst is another customer option. This analyst will perform tests on your heating and cooling systems and tell homeowners if any air is leaking from the envelope. Customers can hire a qualified analyst and pay the full cost of the audit, and PPL Electric Utilities will reimburse $150 or $250 depending on the type of heating and cooling system. By implementing the recommendations of the analyst, participants could qualify for additional rebates. Contact the utility for more information.
