Lane Electric Coop - The Bright Way to Heat Water Loan

April 04, 2002

Summary

Since 1997, Lane Electric Cooperative has partnered with the Eugene Electric and Water Board to offer a solar water heating program to Lane Electric customers who are currently using an electric water heater. Under The Bright Way to Heat Water Program, customers may take advantage of a $100 rebate and a 2% loan when they purchase a solar water heater to replace their existing electric water heater. So far, more than 50 customers have participated in the program. A solar contractor will perform a site review to determine which type of solar water heating system would be best for the site. All systems and sites must meet Lane Electric program qualifications. Marketing has included bill inserts and newsletter ads. A renewable energy tax credit of up to $1,500 is offered by the Oregon Office of Energy.
