Chatham County - Green Building Rebate Program

Summary

Chatham County offers rebates on permitting fees for green building certifications and techniques. Three types of rebates are offered.
 
Tier 1: $100 Rebate
Eligible Projects: 
  • Energy Star for Homes
Tier 2: $250 Rebate
Eligible Projects:
  • NC Healthy Built Home
  • Green Home Builders of the Triangle Program
  • Earthcraft House Program
  • LEED for Homes Program
  • NAHB National Green Building Program
Green Building Techniques: $100 Rebate
Eligible Projects:
  • Geo thermal installation
  • Solar electric and/or solar hot water
  • Passive solar
Owners and builders are limited to $450 per home and $1,000 per year. A rebate applicaton should be submitted along with the building permit application. Specific technology requirements, application requirements, and an application are available on the program web site.
