NYSERDA - Data Center and Server Efficiency

July 14, 2021

Under PON 1206, NYSERDA is soliciting proposals for innovative and emerging data center and server technologies that increase end-use efficiency, reduce electrical demand, or are of strategic importance to New York's energy, environmental, or economic future. The program offering is funded by the state System Benefits Charge (SBC), thus proposals must be for sites in New York State that pay the SBC. Several different types of project will be funded under the program, however, basic research and combined heat and power (CHP) technologies are specifically defined as ineligible. The list below outlines some of the details for each category. Funding Categories

  • Demonstration Projects: $300,000 maximum, preferred cost share of 50%
  • Product Development: $300,000 maximum, preferred cost share of 50%
  • Technology Feasibility: $150,000 maximum, preferred cost share of 20%
  • Market Development: $250,000 maximum, preferred cost share of 10%
  • Advanced Concepts Data Center Project: $500,000 maximum, preferred cost share of 50%
A total of $3 million will be available over two rounds of project funding. A total of $2 million is available for the first three project categories in aggregate, while $500,000 is allocated towards Market Development, and an additional $500,000 is allocated to for the Advanced Concepts Data Center Project. These allocations may be changed based on the quantity and quality of proposals received within different categories. Proposals for the first round of funding are due by May 1, 2008 and for the second round by November 13, 2008. All or none of the funding may be awarded during either round. Additional details on the required content of proposals, evaluation criteria, and other program limitations and requirements can be accessed at program website or by contacting NYSERDA.
