PV Leasing Program

June 20, 2001

Summary

In early 1998, Southwestern Public Service Company started a solar leasing program. PV systems are leased for an undetermined period to customers for use in livestock water pumping and stand-alone power supplies. All of the utility’s customers are eligible and there is no requirement for a minimum distance from the grid. Each project is custom-fitted to the customer’s needs, with the utility handling all equipment maintenance. The leasing program is promoted through word-of-mouth.
