Made in Minnesota Solar Thermal Rebate

November 30, 2017

Summary

Note: This program was repealed by Senate Bill 1456.

Beginning in 2014, the Department of Commerce is offering a Made in Minnesota Solar Thermal Rebate program, pursuant to H.F. 729 enacted in 2013. Rebates are 25% of installed costs, with a $2,500 maximum for residential systems, $5,000 maximum for multi-family residential systems, and $25,000 for commercial systems.

A solar thermal system is “Made in Minnesota” if components of the system are manufactured in Minnesota and the solar thermal system is certified by the solar rating and certification corporation. The solar thermal systems may be installed in residential and commercial facilities for, among other purposes, water heating, space heating, and pool heating purposes.

To receive a Made in Minnesota rebate, applicants must use a factory authorized solar thermal installer. Contact one of the Made in Minnesota certified solar thermal system manufacturers for a list of factory authorized installers. See the program website for more information.
