Marblehead Municipal Light Department offers eligible customers a rebate for solar photovoltaics (PV) installations. The eligibility criteria and incentive were designed to mirror the eligibility and incentives offered under the state's Commonwealth Solar rebate program and changes when the Commonwealth Solar II program changes.* Marblehead Municipal Light Department is not required under law to contribute to the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust, and therefore its customers are not eligible to receive rebates through the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center programs. Marblehead accepts proposals from its customers who are interested in a solar rebate. Program availability is subject to change and/or cancellation without warning.
The most recent residential incentive level under the Commonwealth Solar II program was $0.25 to $1.70/watt-DC (varies by rebate adders), up to $3,500.
*The Commonwealth Solar II is administered by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.

Inverters must be certified to IEEE 929 and UL 1741 standards. All modules, inverters, and production meters must be on the California Energy Commission's list of eligible equipment. Automated reporting required for systems over 10 kW. Minimum manufacturer warranties required: 5 years product and 20 years performance for modules; 10 years for inverters; 2 years for revenue grade production meters; and 5 years for mounting equipment. |

Electrical work must be performed by a Massachusetts licensed electrician. NABCEP certification recommended. Projects must have a minimum 5-year warranty provided by the installer against defective workmanship, project or component breakdown, or degradation in electrical output of more than 15% from original rated electrical output during the warranty period. Projects generally must be grid-tied and "behind the meter." |
