Summary

Washington Gas, as a part of the Maryland EmPOWER program, offers incentives to its residential customer for making energy efficiency improvements. Rebates are available for qualifying water heaters and furnaces. Washington Gas also offers rebates for tune-ups of boilers, fire places, and furnaces.

In addition to appliance and furnace rebates, Washington Gas offers a Smart Energy Rewards thermostat demand response program. Customers with natural gas heating and qualifying wi-fi enabled thermostats can enroll in the program and receive a $20 gift card, plus an additional $10 gift card on each anniversary of enrollment.

The Company offers an online Home Energy Assessment portal to receive recommendations to reduce home energy use. Based on recommendations from the assessment, some customers may be eligible for free conservation kits including spray foam sealants, door sweeps, faucet aerators, and pipe insulation.

Eligibility

All residential customers of Washington Gas in Maryland are eligible to apply for the rebate. Rebates are offered for qualifying natural gas appliances and equipment listed in the website. Applications for rebates are available on the program website, which must be filled out and submitted to the company before the end of the program year.

Home Efficiency Assessment Program (in coordination with Electric Utilities)

Washington Gas works with electric utilities with overlapping service territories across Maryland to offer customers even more savings. Through the Home Energy Improvement Program (HEIP), Home Performance with ENERGY STAR (HPwES) and Quick Home Energy Check-up (QHEC) programs, customers can learn about their home's energy efficiency and start saving energy and money immediately. Program offerings vary by electric utility, see the web page for additional detail.

The program website also lists various other manufacturer promotions available for various efficiency equipment.
