Kansas City Board of Public Utilities - Subdivision Developer Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

March 29, 2012

Summary

The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities encourages developers to populate subdivisions with energy efficient homes. BPU will award water-main rebates to developers who equip homes in a subdivision with energy efficient electric heating equipment.

There are three program tracks through which a developer can participate. Applications will be reviewed and considered by the utility's Board of Directors. If the application is approved, the developer has three years to complete construction of the subdivision and homes. The developer must also ensure that builders in the subdivision comply with the program requirements. Water-main rebates are paid on a per-lot basis upon inspection of installed equipment.
