Hawaii - Residential Energy-Efficient Appliance Rebate Program

June 25, 2010

Summary

Note: Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is providing a total of $300 million to U.S. states, U.S. territories and the District of Columbia to establish rebate programs for new energy-efficient appliances that replace existing appliances in homes. Each state and territory has designed its own program. Rebates will be available until the state or territory program's funding is exhausted. Be sure to confirm that rebate funds are still available in your state or territory before making purchasing decisions. Beginning on May 23, 2010, Hawaii's Residential Energy-Efficient Appliance Rebate Program is offering a $250 rebate for Energy Star refrigerators installed in households in Hawaii. This program will be open until June 23, 2010, or until program funding is exhausted. Refrigerators receiving rebates must replace an existing refrigerator. Rebates will be available until funds are exhausted. Applicants must complete and submit a mail-in rebate, along with proof of purchase and proof of recycling in order to receive the rebate. This program is administered by Hawaii Energy for the islands of Hawaii, Maui, Lanai Molokai, and Oahu and the Kauai Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC) for the island of Kauai. Visit the Hawaii Energy site for more information on the Hawaii Energy program. In addition to this Energy Star program, Hawaii Energy offers the Hawaii Energy - Energy Star Appliance Rebate Program.
