Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

March 15, 2013

Summary

The Hawaii Energy - Energy Efficiency Program offers incentives for residential customers on Hawaii, Maui, Lanai Molokai, and Oahu for investments in Energy Star appliances and other approved energy efficiency measures.  Rebates are only available for retrofits.  Rebates are available for a variety of appliances, certain air conditioners, air conditioner servicing, and whole house energy monitors. Appliances must be installed on one of the eligible islands and participants must apply for rebate within six months of purchasing the appliance. The incentive is limited to one of each appliance with the exception of ceiling fans and air conditioners, of which participants can claim rebates for up to five purchases. Additional restrictions apply; interested customers should visit the program web site for more information.

As part of the Energy Solutions programs, Hawaii Energy also provides rebates for heat pump water heaters to replace existing residential systems. High-efficiency water heater rebates vary based on tank size. In order to be eligible for this rebate, residents must live in their homes year round and purchase a program approved model. Interested customers can view a list of retailers selling eligible models on the program website, fill out the rebate application, and call an approved contractor.
