In Fort Bend County, where Sugar Land is located, Lendlease plans to build a 200-megawatt solar facility on an 1800-acre plot of land. The project is estimated to cost approximately $170 million with expectations for completion sometime during 2020. It will use 700,000 solar panels ground-mounted on a single-axis tracker system to maximize power generation. Once the project is completed, it’s expected to generate enough energy to power upwards of 40,000 homes within the Fort Bend community. This project will also receive a ten-year tax abatement to make the project economically viable and help reduce the cost of electricity for businesses and residents within Fort Bend County.
