In 2019, the Alabama State Legislature authorized the creation of the Electric Transportation Charging Infrastructure Grant Program. This is a program of the State Department of Transportation and exists for the purpose of providing funds, grants, and support for the construction, maintenance, reconstruction, and repair of public highways, roads, and bridges through the procurement, installation, and implementation of electric vehicle transportation infrastructure.
