Note: Funding for this program has been exhausted for 2005. Beginning in January 2006, there will be a limited amount of grant funding available for residential renewable retrofits in Ohio. For more information, visit www.odod.state.oh.us/cdd/oee/elfgrant.htm or call: toll-free 1-866-728-6749 or 614-644-8864. This site will be updated when program details become available. With funding from Ohio's Energy Loan Fund (ELF), the Ohio Office of Energy Efficiency is soliciting applications for grants to install renewable-energy projects at or on single-family or multi-family homes in the service territories of the state's five investor-owned electric distribution companies -- American Electric Power (Columbus and Southern Power and Ohio Power); CINergy (Cincinnati Gas and Electric); Dayton Power and Light; First Energy (Cleveland Electric Illuminating, Ohio Edison, Toledo Edison); and Monongahela Power (Allegheny Power). Solar-electric (PV), solar thermal and wind projects located in Ohio are eligible for funding. However, energy efficiency must be demonstrated according to guidelines outlined by the OH Department of Development. PV projects will receive a maximum of $5.00/watt DC; wind projects will receive a maximum of $2.75/watt; and solar-thermal projects will receive a maximum of $5.00 per 100 BTU per day. Solar PV projects must be installed by NABCEP certified installers. Applications will be accepted beginning February 1, 2005, on a continuing basis. Awards will be made to qualifying projects until available funds are exhausted. Funds will be disbursed on a pro-rata schedule: 60% upon execution of grant agreement; 20% upon installation with supporting documentation; 20% upon submittal to the OEE and acceptance by the OEE of one year’s project performance data. Applicants are encouraged to apply for an ELF-linked deposit to finance the balance of project costs. See the ELF program web site for more information on these incentives.
