Renewable Energy Grants for Schools

Summary

This grant program is meant to assist schools that wish to install, acquire, or improve renewable energy systems. The grant will provide 50% of the project cost up to a maximum of $1 million provided that school can demonstrate the ability to fund the remaining 50%. Schools may accept private funds for their portion of the project cost. Public Act 095-0046 amends Article 6 of The Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, and Coal Resources Development Law of 1997 (20 ILCS 687/6) by adding section 5.5. The grant program will be administered by the Illinois Department of Commerce.
