July 17, 2009

Summary

Muscle Shoals Electric Board offers an incentive to its residential customers to build their new homes to an overall efficiency rating. The incentive is for $200 and is awarded to customers whose home meets all the efficiency requirements. The home must have a HERS rating of 83 or more, and an electric heat pump with a minimum SEER of 11 or 12. A full kitchen (range, oven, and refrigerator) must be wired for electric appliances, the ceiling must have insulation levels of R19 or higher, and the walls must have insulation levels of R11 or higher.
